Description

This is a personal word book resource provides an initial list of high-frequency words for each letter of the alphabet, plus plenty of blank lines for new words and illustrations chosen by the student or teacher. Additional words can be selected from thematic units, academic vocabulary, lessons, literature, word walls, or other sources. The back of the book provides pages for common words, such as days of the week, months of the year, and color words.
The process of adding words that are relevant and personally meaningful engages students in learning and remembering. It also promotes differentiated instruction by enabling each student the opportunity to add words appropriate for his/her own level. This resource encourages students to expand the collection of words they recognize and use correctly, and to gain confidence and ownership of their writing.
