Description

The perfect introduction to the solar system!

PreK-K students will learn about their solar system while practicing their counting and writing skills and developing their knowledge of colors and the shape, ‘circle’.

Included in this lesson:

Solar System Fact Pages

Background information is provided for each part of the solar system: Sun, planets, comets, asteroids, Kuiper Belt & Oort Cloud.

Solar System Coloring Pages

Several solar system coloring pages are available to introduce students to the solar system and planets. Color versions are also provided to use as a classroom poster.

Planet Counting: How Far from the Sun?

Students can count along as they learn the order of the planets from the Sun. Trace the numbers and then write freehand.

Solar System Order

Reinforce sequence and number recognition. Students cut the planets around the dotted lines (each is labeled with a number), and glue them on the matching number behind the Sun.

Solar System Planets

Trace the name of each planet and the circle surrounding each planet. On the lines below, write the name of the planet freehand, or if students are higher level, ask them to write a sentence about each planet. Color each planet using the color suggestions provided.

This is a PDF non-editable resource.
