Description

Before you can really start digging into teaching a student about financial literacy, you need to have some understanding of their previous experiences, lessons, beliefs, and knowledge. My Financial Story allows students a safe, judgment-free way to express their thoughts, beliefs, and feelings about money, using whatever medium most appeals to them.

Students can choose to write a response, create a visual representation by drawing or create a collage of other media. They can select songs, movies, tv shows, memes, or characters that best represent their ideas.

Included is a printable paper version which will fit on a single 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper, when printed on both sides and then folded. Also included is the link to the same activity in Google Slides in case you or the students prefer to answer in a digital format.

If you like this activity, I have a wide range of personal finance activities for the classroom! Some of my favorites are:

Space Quest - A Needs vs Wants Activity

The Passport to Financial Independence - An alternative assessment which measures behavior changes in students over the duration of a course.

Cashflow Tracking and Net Worth Calculation Activity - Goes with the game of Monopoly
