This graphic organizer will help your students organize their research and record the information they gather for an animal report. It can easily be incorporated into any animal unit. The graphic organizer includes spaces to record the following information:
Page 1 - The Animal's Habitat, Body Covering and Special Features
Page 2 - Food, 3 Interesting Facts, and a Conclusion
Pages 3 and 4 - Template for Writing the Rough Draft
These pages guide the student through the report writing process with guided questions and suggestions for what information to include. Includes a space to sketch a drawing of the animal.
The animal report is ready for editing and publishing in the manner of your choosing.
Meets the following Common Core State Standards:
W.2.2 Write informative/explanatory texts in which they introduce a topic, use facts and definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or section.
W.3.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.
W.2.5 With guidance and support from adults and peers, focus on a topic and strengthen writing as needed by revising and editing.
W.3.5 With guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, and editing.
