What educators are saying

Used it in dance class with my grade one students. I called out the movement and they did it then they decided if it was locomotor or non-locomotor. We made a chart to refer to with the cards. Will use again.

Description

Make your creative movement time even more creative with locomotor and non-locomotor cards. Expand your students' movement vocabulary and challenge them to try new moves by referencing these cards during your movement time. Great for music or P.E. classes. Let's hit the floor!

These colorful cards are designed to inspire students to move their body in new ways. Post them in your classroom and refer to them often. They are designed to be displayed in two groups: locomotor and non-locomotor. The locomotor cards are in red, orange and yellow. The non-locomotor cards are in green, blue and purple. Displayed together they make an eye-catching display.

Also included in this set are two headings for each category with a definition of locomotor and non-locomotor and a one page sheet that also explains the same. Use one of all of them as your space allows.

This set is easy to prepare and display because it takes mostly straight line cutting to get it ready for your room.

Here's what is included in this download:

  • 26 locomotor action cards
  • 28 non-locomotor action cards
  • 2 headings (one for each category)
  • 1 page explanation of locomotor vs non-locomotor
  • title letters that spell "Let's Move"
  • tips for displaying this set

Use these cards for a workstation too!

➡️ Place the cards and the locomotor and non-locomotor definition cards in the center. Instruct students to try out each movement and then sort them into locomotor or non-locomotor.

➡️ Print out the cards and leave them in a center with instructions to line them up (4-8 cards at a time) and then try out the moves together as a group.

➡️. Print two copies of the cards and create a matching memory like game. When students make a match they must stand and try out the move. Fun!
