Peter and the Wolf Music Listening Activities and Worksheets.

This resource will help you introduce your students to the classical masterpiece, "Peter and the Wolf" by Sergei Prokofiev. It offers engaging activities and worksheets that will guide them to explore the expressive power of music and understand how it can evoke various emotions.

By discussing the different characters in the story and how their features and personalities can be represented by specific sounds, pitches, and volumes, students can gain a deeper understanding of how music can convey meaning and tell a story.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

  1. The story of Peter and the Wolf.
  2. A listening guide in both PDF and a Word doc so you can adjust the section times to coincide with your own recording of Peter and the Wolf.
  3. A PowerPoint containing 28 slides.
  4. The slides contain an AUDIO CLIP and music notation for the theme of each character. Remember to play the PPT in slide view to hear the audio!
  5. There is also a PDF of the PowerPoint
    Student worksheets:
    - Match the character to the instrument
    - Character, Instrument, and Instrumental Family Table
    - Peter and the Wolf Crossword Puzzle with an ANSWER KEY
  6. FlashCards: there are two versions of the same set, one with the name of the character and the instrument included on the card, and the second set is without the names included so the students can write in the names. ***Students are also able to color the flashcards!
