Description

Do your students struggle to grasp the "ten times as many" concept with place value? Read this rhyming book to help them remember how moving left one place increases a number's value by ten times.

Contents:

  • 40 page eBook with a story and illustrations about place value

Don't miss these "Read Along Practice Pages" - One problem solving activity for each page in the ebook. Engage your students in solving the math problems from the story.

Book Summary:

Penny Penelope Payne is that she can't make sense of her math homework. Her mother saves the day with the story of Digit in the Base Ten Woods. This squirrel has to think fast when family members (and other surprise guests) keep arriving with more acorns. Where can he store them when his shelves are full?

Read this story to children ages 6-12 to teach about place value, bundling numbers as they move up to the next place, and multiplying by tens. Before you know it, your student will learn the same lesson as Penny - "That when ten times as many move left one door, the places get bigger with more room to store. You can bundle a bunch so each room has more space. Each number has value and each has a place."

Use this Place-Value Story in so many ways!

✅ Wrap up a math unit with your whole class by reading this place value book!
