Description
Multiplication automaticity is important because students need to save their brain power for more complex multi-step math problems without slowing down to work out basic facts.
There are a few ways to approach learning basic math facts. One is simple memorization, which entails lots of flash card drills. An alternative is to make multiplication more manageable, with methods for some of the numbers. These Multiplication Fact Strategies are perfect for math students who need a little something “extra” to help them learn their basic multiplication math facts. Students keep it in their math notebooks, and it's a good student resource for when we’re working on our times tables. It’s also free of busy distractions, like clip art and hard-to-read fonts, and one page is color-coded to help visual learners see the relationships between factors and products. Your students can color the blank versions to help them learn strategies!
Inevitably, students still need to memorize some, but by getting most of the multiplication table down to a few simple rules, becoming automatic with the multiplication facts is suddenly within reach!
