Description

PURPOSE:

Use this worksheet to help your students practice 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication. This worksheet helps students connect the partial products that are found in the box (area) method and the standard algorithm.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

This product contains:

✏️ A 1-page graphic organizer

✏️ An assignable Easel worksheet

STORY:

Due to its more conceptual nature, the box method is often a lot easier for students to connect with initially. From there, it benefits them greatly to connect the partial products constructed in each model and how they form the final product. So I developed this worksheet to help students move from the box method to the traditional algorithm. I found that this worked well with my students; sentence stems are also included.

POSSIBLE EXTENSIONS:

Speak with your students about other multiplication methods and see how the different methods compare.

MATERIALS/PRE-REQS:

Besides this file, you may require:

✏️ Extra paper
