Description

Do you have clients with a speech sound disorder that say /d/ at the start of words for multiple phonemes? Are you looking for an evidence based phonological intervention? The Multiple Oppositions approach contrasts a variety of phonemes with the phoneme a student is producing (/d/).

Multiple Oppositions is an evidence based intervention that is suitable for students who have moderate-severe speech sound disorders. Often times, students who are very unintelligible will collapse multiple phonemes into one phoneme e.g. t/b/p/m/f/s/sh may all be /d/. Multiple Oppositions intervention uses two to four contrastive sounds by introducing words that are different (in place, manner, voicing) to the child’s substitute e.g., do; Sue/chew/glue/who). Words are typically real words but can be nonsense words if needed.
