What educators are saying

This resource is very helpful as it pairs vocabulary words with visuals. It can be adapted to work on other goals like reading comprehension.
I love the way in which these vocabulary words are used within a story paired with pictures. I find that this resource is much more motivating for my middle school students than just randomly picking vocabulary.

Description

Vocabulary activities targeting multiple meaning words and homographs allow you to teach your students a lot of information per word! This huge resource uses visuals, mnemonics and narratives to teach multiple meanings in a unique and engaging way!

This no prep and Common Core-aligned resource teaches 137 definitions and 27 variations/expressions (e.g. "one of a kind") to 50 homographs!

This is what the learning process looks like for all 50 multiple meaning words:

  • Introduction to each word definition
  • Review of the parts-of-speech for each definition (e.g. adverb)
  • Discussion of the variations and/or expressions (e.g. one of a kind) for each word
  • Presentation of each word meaning in the context of a short narrative and/or mnemonic
  • Observation of the engaging visual that accompanies the narrative
  • Review of word meanings through the use of cards, which display the visual with a sentence (related to the narrative/mnemonic)
  • Cards can be sent home for continued review

For your convenience, this resource also includes:

  • TpT Easel Version for an interactive digital experience
  • Hyperlinked table-of-contents
  • Multiple cards for group and/or home distribution
