Vocabulary activities targeting multiple meaning words and homographs allow you to teach your students a lot of information per word! This huge resource uses visuals, mnemonics and narratives to teach multiple meanings in a unique and engaging way!
This no prep and Common Core-aligned resource teaches 137 definitions and 27 variations/expressions (e.g. "one of a kind") to 50 homographs!
This is what the learning process looks like for all 50 multiple meaning words:
- Introduction to each word definition
- Review of the parts-of-speech for each definition (e.g. adverb)
- Discussion of the variations and/or expressions (e.g. one of a kind) for each word
- Presentation of each word meaning in the context of a short narrative and/or mnemonic
- Observation of the engaging visual that accompanies the narrative
- Review of word meanings through the use of cards, which display the visual with a sentence (related to the narrative/mnemonic)
- Cards can be sent home for continued review
