What educators are saying

This is a perfect, challenging activity for my high level 2nd graders learning about morphemes and more!
A fun and engaging way to practice and reinforce morphemes we have learned in class. The kids enjoyed the game and have asked to play again.

Description

Morphology study involves examining word parts (morphemes) and the relationships between words. By learning to examine bases, roots, and affixes, students can develop a deep understanding of our language and enhance their vocabulary development, reading, writing, spelling, and more! Talk about big impact... morphology study pays huge dividends!

  • This morpheme card game is designed to allow your students to apply their learning by building words with morphemes they've studied. Game directions included!
  • Differentiation suggestions included for beginners and more advanced players. Both bound and free bases are included, for easy differentiation.
  • These lists were built for students to use to investigate the meaning of a morpheme by considering words containing that morpheme. The meaning of each morpheme is *not* included on each card, though there is a teacher reference at the end that defines each morpheme in included the deck.

Please note: you will need software to open a PDF file such as Adobe Acrobat. You may print as many copies of these lists as needed for the students that you personally teach! Additional licenses must be purchased for use by other teachers.
