*This morning work is not meant to be done in isolation, independently or as homework. The power of it is thinking aloud and the cognitive process work when the teacher and others making their thinking audible for everyone to hear….ORAL LANGUAGE is key!

**Due to the collaborative nature of these activities, they are intended for oral discussion. I did create written response sheets for Mentor Sentence of the Week and Free Write of the Week if a teacher wanted to have the sheets for the students to write on, but they aren’t necessary, a notebook works just fine, too.

The best part about this product (besides the Google Slides feature) is all the slides are 100% editable. If there is an analogy, a word, image or sentence that you do not like, you can swap it out in seconds for something different that better fits your students.

The mentor texts selected for the Mentor Sentences are all titles from Epic! If you don’t have a free teacher account, that will be helpful.
