Description

A bundle of great activities to incorporate more literature in your music classroom! Use these five lessons together as a drum unit or space them individually throughout the year. Students will love reading the simple rhymes in these stories and then playing them on the drums. In the process they will learn about reading rhythmic notation, dynamics, form, improvisation, drum technique, and different types of drums. This bundle of drumming lessons uses the following books:

• Thump, Thump, Rat-a-Tat-Tat – by Gene Baer

• Drummer Hoff – by Barbara & Ed Emberley

• Tanka, Tanka, Skunk - by Steve Webb

• Brown Bear, Brown Bear – by Bill Martin

• Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb – by Al Perkins

This product includes:

• Lesson plans for the five stories listed above

• Visuals for each lesson

• Posters for drumming rules (including blank templates)

• Posters of eleven drums commonly used in drum circles

• Ideas on how to increase your drum equipment
