How to Use This Activity in Your Classroom:
Teacher presentation: This Google Slide presentation allows you to have a class discussion about the moon and the lunar cycle. Students can fill in their notes pages during the class discussion.
Student Activity: This activity will have students use their reading and writing skills to learn about the moon, how it affects the earth, and the phases of the moon. Students can complete the activity independently or in small groups.
Phases of the Moon Activities: Reinforce student understanding of the moon phases and order of the lunar cycle using the included scaffolded activities.
Graphic Organizer: A graphic organizer is another visual note-taking activity for students to review their knowledge of the moon and lunar phases. Allow students to look back at their notes to fill in the page before completing an assessment.
- There are print and digital versions of all assignments to help differentiate instruction in your classroom. I tried to be as clear as possible in naming the presentations. Once you open them and make a copy, you can rename the file.
Note: Print and Google Slides materials are NOT editable to remain compliant with clip and font artists.
Teacher Feedback:
- This is an excellent resource to use with Science NGSS about our solar system. It is fun, creative, and engaging! Students are allowed to go at their own pace with reading and answering the comprehension questions along the way.
- This was a great resource to use remotely with my students. They were able to pull it up on their screen and type the answers right into the document as we went over it together remotely. Whatever we didn't finish, I had them do for homework.
- During remote learning, this was a great resource. The students found it easy to use and interactive.
- Love the choice between paper or digital. I had a sub this day and did not want them on their Chromebooks, so I went paper.
- I originally used this resource for an E-Learning day, but I loved it so much that I will include it in my Earth Science curriculum this year. Thank you for creating this great digital resource! I look forward to purchasing more science digital resources from you in the future!
