What educators are saying

I love this concept instead of traditional homework. My students would definitely agree with me! I did adjust a little for third graders at the beginning of the year, but it was not hard to edit the resource!
I love that this covers the full year and also allowed some choice at home. Parents also liked that it was all on one board for the month.

Description

Are you . . .

- Tired of giving a homework packet only to have students toss it as soon as you get out the door?

- Required by your school or district to give homework, but don't really like the practice?

- Looking for something beyond the traditional reading log?

- Don't assign homework, but then get countless parent requests for "more homework please!!" ?

If any of these sound familiar, then the monthly homework choice boards were created for you. I am not a fan of assigning homework to my students, but I was getting parent and student requests for homework or extra practice. I didn't want to assign meaningless work, but I also didn't want to add another thing on to my plate.

I created these homework choice boards as an easy, print and go way for students, parents, and even admin to be satisfied without sacrificing my time, personal beliefs about homework, or student engagement!

These choice boards are geared towards 4th graders, with Reading, Writing, Language, and Math CCSS included. However, 3rd graders could use this with some parent or teacher support, and 5th graders could benefit from the review of previous skills! The tasks progress in difficulty as you go keep challenging your learners.

These boards could also be used for:

- Early Finishers

- Centers

- Morning Work

- Gifted Student Alternative Projects

Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
Recognize angles as geometric shapes that are formed wherever two rays share a common endpoint, and understand concepts of angle measurement:
Recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. For example, recognize that 700 ÷ 70 = 10 by applying concepts of place value and division.
