Description

This Montessori Pick & Stick Poster Pack is perfect for showcasing on your bulletin board which Practical Life Skills you're working on with your kids each week! Use velcro dots to easily switch out which chores and skills each sibling wants to focus on learning.

This printable pack includes:

  • 3 poster backgrounds in different colors for multiple siblings
  • Over 65 Practical Life Skill cards for preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade
  • A blank page of life skill cards so you can add anything else that is specific to your family!

The Life Skill Cards in this pack are comprehensive for ages 2-6. There are suggested labels on each page for ages 2-4 and ages 5-6, but all children learn at slightly different paces. Some children end up fully potty trained by age 2, and others get there at age 5. I recommend using this Pick & Stick Pack to make learning Practical Life Skills every week a core focus of your curriculum, front and center along with the letter and number of the week!

If you're struggling with a toddler who doesn't want to learn Practical Life Skills, I think this tool can really help! (My son has definitely used the line, "But I just want to be a baby forever," more than a few times.) Try letting your child pick which Life Skill cards they want to stick on the poster for the week to work on. You can offer them choices from a limited selection still (4-5 cards), but giving a toddler that extra bit of agency to decide all on their own what big kid thing they get to learn... it really helps with motivation!

Practical Life Skill Cards (age 2-6) include...

  • Chores
  • Self-care
  • Getting dressed
  • Safety
  • Eating
  • Cooking
  • Manners
  • Positive discipline
  • Money management
  • Self-sufficiency

Positive discipline cards like "Treat my sibling with kindness" and "Use gentle hands" can be used as kind reminders when your child is misbehaving. If your current method of discipline hasn't been working, or if you just want to try something new in addition to what you already do, these positive disciple cards can work as an easy form of redirection!

For example, if a child starts being too rough, I could point to our Practical Life Skills Poster and kindly, but firmly, say, "Remember, this week we're learning how to use gentle hands. Let's try again with gentle hands." Hey, for some reason, anything written on a sign just feels more official!
