Description

This is a practice problem worksheet that I use when I first begin to teach genetics. This resource contains 4 printable or digital student pages consisting of 10 monohybrid (or one factor) crosses. This worksheet provides the needed practice to ensure that beginning genetics students master this early and simple concept. Students will determine the genotypes of parents and predict the probability of obtaining different types of offspring by using Punnett squares.

Both printable and digital versions of this resource are included. The student handouts can be printed or used in the paperless digital format in your Google Drive, Google Classroom, Microsoft OneDrive, or similar. This resource is perfect for traditional classroom settings, 1:1 schools, or for distance learning.

  • Printable and Editable Monohybrid Cross Practice Problem Worksheet
  • Digital paperless version (not editable) for use in Google Drive, Google Classroom, and/or Microsoft OneDrive

NGSSHS-LS3-3
Apply concepts of statistics and probability to explain the variation and distribution of expressed traits in a population. Emphasis is on the use of mathematics to describe the probability of traits as it relates to genetic and environmental factors in the expression of traits. Assessment does not include Hardy-Weinberg calculations.
NGSSMS-LS3-2
Develop and use a model to describe why asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information and sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation. Emphasis is on using models such as Punnett squares, diagrams, and simulations to describe the cause and effect relationship of gene transmission from parent(s) to offspring and resulting genetic variation.
