Description
Modern Masters is a BBC documentary series written and presented by Alastair Sooke. The series was broadcasted in 2010. Each of the four one hour episodes examines the biography of an artist and his key work through Sooke's considerations and some reenactments.
Great 2-day activity for your substitute teacher!!!!
In this episode, Salvador Dali's life and art are featured. The documentary explores his paintings, sculptures, jewelry, interior design, fashion, and etc. This guide comes with 33 fill-in-the-blank questions to help the viewer follow the documentary. An answer key is provided. The video can be found on YouTube.
The worksheets split the movie into two equal halves. I have had tremendous success with these worksheets. The students stay fully engaged while watching the movie. The fill-in-the-blank questions are in sync with how the documentary is presented. This approach maintains attentive listeners because the students are anxiously waiting for the next upcoming answer.
This activity is perfect for any Studio Art class, Art History class, and World History class.
Warning: There are a few brief segments that may not be appropriate for a high school student. Please watch the documentary before showing to your students and personally predetermine which sections you will fast forward through.
