What educators are saying

I loved this novel study the best of all I have used. The vocabulary work, review questions were on target, but best of all were the Christian applications and ties. For my private school this was awesome.

Description

This is a mini-guide (a two-week study) for the book titled The Door in the Wall, by Marguerite de Angeli. In this book set in the Middle Ages, Robin discovers that -- despite handicaps -- he is able to serve his country.

The mini-guide contains:

  • vocabulary activities
  • discussion questions
  • reading activities – Students will learn about: the Newbery Medal, implicit and explicit theme, alliteration, plants, simile, repetition, and onomatopoeia. Students will: read background information, match people with their gaits, add alliterative words to a chart, fill in a “sense” chart, compare/contrast, identify synonyms/antonyms, locate examples of personification, predict, and complete a review puzzle.
  • related activities
  • life applications/Bible
  • writing activities
  • a crossword puzzle
  • an answer key
  • activities that can be used as assessments

In this workbook version of the guide, space is provided for students to write all of the answers.

The guide is also available in interactive format (space is not provided for students to write all of the answers): Mini-Guide for Juniors: The Door in the Wall Interactive

NOTE:

  • The content of the guide in interactive format and in workbook format is the same; the only difference is spacing.

Mini-guides are used in home schools, co-ops, and traditional schools. Click on the link to browse through all of the Mini-Guides for Juniors.
