Description
Teachers and/or Parents,
As we know, far too many kids think it's OK just to copy and paste material straight from the Internet and hand it in as their own these days. With this product you will help show them otherwise and give them invaluable practice restating simple ideas in their own words.
Simply put, this product will kick-start any unit you would like to teach on the writing process. Content-area teachers tell you can show your principals that you are doing your part to support school reading and literacy goals. This will fill several days of teaching or can easily be trimmed down to whatever you need. Give it to kids seeking extra credit and you'll know for sure they can find the answers on the Internet because this is unique!
Product contains links to two excellent videos that introduce the topics of paraphrasing and plagiarism (It bears noting that I watched many hours of videos, rejecting many of them before hand-picking these two as the best). To go with them are questions formatted as graphic organizers that follow the content and spotlight the essential points. Next come written examples of kid-friendly, but essential core written texts and step-by-step instructions on how to paraphrase them. Finally come more examples released to the students so they can do their own work.
