Description

A Three Event Medieval Tournament

INTRODUCTION: Medieval Knights were trained from boyhood to develop the skills necessary to be warriors. They needed to know how to fight on horses with a lance, how to use a sword, and how to shoot a bow and arrow. Tournaments were held to allow Knights the chance to practice and show off their abilities in these three skills necessary to be a good Knight.

In this classroom tournament they will exhibit their skill in JOUSTING (fighting with a lance), SWORD FIGHTING (fighting with a sword) and ARCHERY (fighting with a bow and arrow).

MATERIALS:
1. A pool noodle
2. Paper grocery bags (A week prior to the tournament ask students to bring in if they can)
3. A pillow case
4. A yardstick
5. Rubber bands
