⏰ What time commitment is involved?
Teacher set-up is required beforehand to print and prepare the measurement station activities, student recording sheets and certificates. Collect materials and equipment needed for each measurement station (+- 60 min).
Optional - print and make up the bonus bunting flags, decorate the classroom for that festive feel and to create excitement (+- 60 min).
The FUN DAY rotations can take students 3-4 hours, depending on the number of activities you put out, the number of students you have, their ability levels, extension activities you add in, etc.
All instructions are included, giving you the confidence to deliver a quality learning experience in Math, for your students.

❤️ How do I use this product?
All the instructions are included on the Teacher Information page in this Maths MEASUREMENT BUNDLE activities team competition FUN DAY for K-5th grade. The FUN DAY activities have been designed to accommodate for wet days as they can all be played indoors.
Set up guide:
→ arrange your classroom space and furniture to accommodate up to a number of different measurement stations, one for each unique Measurement activity.
→ print, cut (if you printed 2 activity instructions / page), possibly laminate (to preserve)
the Task Cards that give student instructions at each station.
→ print, cut and assemble the bunting flags to decorate your classroom (optional)
→ print student recording sheets for tracking their results at each station
→ pre-sort your groups into mixed abilities (2-4)
→ introduce the FUN DAY activities, by sharing the PDF slides with your students on your large screen, at the start of the event. Use presentation mode as follows: open the PDF, click VIEW > Enter full screen, then navigate with the arrow keys on your keyboard.
Finally let them go!
Float around, offering support only as needed or answering questions. Observe your students develop their Math and soft skills as they navigate each station with their small group.
Wrap up the day by having your students analyse their results and order their achievements within their groups.
Optional: Hold a certificate ceremony or a play-off between the top achievers.
Further Options: align with world or regional events, like The Olympics, World Series, etc. Have students choose a country/team to represent, research 3 facts about them, make a flag, wear the colours of that country/team, consider nutrition and hydration for athletes when you stop for breaks, etc.
❤️ How will this product help my students improve their knowledge and skills?
Nothing kills the love for Math faster that worksheet heavy lessons. While those are important for drill practise, they are not what help our students to grasp concepts and have Aha! moments in Math. That only happens with Real Life Experiences. And we all know that when we are having fun, we are more open to taking risks and absorbing new learning.
These are the principles that this product is built around. Children participating real life application activities, like measuring how far they can throw a paper plate disc, or choosing the best tools for measuring a particular length.
Now add in the competition element of who threw the furtherest, to explore math concepts of strategy, comparing, greater than, less than, and sequencing/ ordering values.
Finally, students will also work with Place Value as they toggle between the Metric units of Measurement.
