Description
Teaching about life cycles?
Mealworms allow students to observe complete metamorphosis - little set-up, easy to do and minimal care required. You will need a few months to complete - but checking once a week on these little guys would be effective.
Mealworms go through stages: egg, larva, pupa and adult. Your students will love watching the worms change to pupas and then into adults (beetles).
TWO FORMATS
1. designed for students with significant cognitive disabilities - icons for observations and choice making
2. an observation log involving writing observations, drawing pictures and recording stages

* three close reading passages
* vocabulary cards
* life cycle poster
* venn diagram activity
