This Watermelon Seeds Counting Mats File Folder Activity would a great addition to your math center during these final weeks of school! With a fun, bright, summer theme, this resource will encourage students to review counting and recognizing numbers 1-20.

You could even use this resource for summer school, summer review, homeschool, SPED, May preschool centers, summer math centers, summer morning math tub, etc.

So what's included?

• directions page
• 2 different colored watermelon mats (attach these to the inside of a file folder)
• number cards 1-20 with numerals and the number words
• 20 watermelon seeds

How does this activity work?

Attach the watermelon mat to the inside of a file folder. Cut out the number cards and watermelon seed counters. Students choose a number card, say the name of the number on the card, and then use the seeds to count out the correct number onto the watermelon.

Feeling extra super?!- Instead of using the included printable seeds, use REAL watermelon seeds as counters! You could also even use play dough made seeds, pom poms, beads, etc for a more sensory based approach!
