Description

This novel study has 30 questions that students can attempt either during the reading of this book, or at the end of reading. All of these questions are higher order thinking questions loosely based on the Bloom's Taxonomy and Williams Model. The unit is suitable for gifted and talented students from Grade 1 up, and for mainstream students from Years 3-6.

Concepts covered include:

Inferring

Figurative Language

Author's Purpose

Vocabulary

Word Meaning in Context

Connecting to a text

Comparing and Contrasting

Using Analogy

and more...

In my Grade 1/2 gifted and talented classroom, I read 2 chapters per week and then students go and answer the questions in their books. Afterwards, we discuss answers, talk about what would have made "the best answer" and the students mark their own work as we discuss each answer. My students have thoroughly enjoyed this novel study.

Please Note:
