Description
Looking for ways to make your math center time engaging and easier to plan? Get students moving with Solve the Room Math Task Cards! This bundle includes 40 different sets of first grade math task cards that can be used in stations, as a whole class scoot game, or a Write the Room center. Students are practicing first grade math skills while having fun! This resource is perfect for kinesthetic learners because they get to move and learn at the same time!

In my classroom, math centers are an important part of our math block! I developed these Math Solve the Room Activities to help engage students and streamline my math center routine!

Each week, one center that my students visit is Solve the Room. They grab a recording sheet and clipboard and walk around the classroom searching for the task cards. They solve the problem on the card and write their answer on the recording sheet. This means less planning for math centers and the students LOVE coming in on Monday morning to see what set of cards will be up next!

Recording Sheets:

There are several recording sheet templates in this pack. In my classroom, I use the general template. This works for every Solve the Room pack I have created! No need to find and print a new one each week. Just keep a master and copy and you’re good to go! There are also templates included that are specific to this Solve the Room Pack!

All task card sets are printer friendly!

Tips:

These cards can be used in many ways! You could play a whole class scoot game to review a concept! You could also use them for extra practice at your small group table!

If you want more ideas for how to use these task cards in your classroom, check out this blog post!

Here's what other teachers like you have said:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ LOVE having a set of cards that cover each skill. I love that the entire bundle is the same, so students have consistency in the center each week and there is no need to go over HOW to do the center each week!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I've always struggled with Math Centers, but not anymore with this resource! I love that it offers both color and black/white to print on colored paper options. Amazing resource that includes everything for First Grade all year long! Great investment that will last many years!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ All first grade teachers should get this!! Wow, these are just amazing! Every Monday I hung one set of cards around the room on bright colored paper. During independent work time during math, early finishers would use the recording sheet to find the cards. If they only had time for a few, they had the rest of the week to finish. I usually gave everyone a little more time on Fridays to finish. IT WAS A LIFESAVER for providing a fun challenge for students.

I would love to hear your feedback! Please let me know how this has helped you in your classroom!

Extremely satisfied
By far, one of my best TpT first grade purchases! Every week, I have a new set of SCOOT cards ready for students to do as one of their centers. The answer sheets for each week are helpful, as I can write in some clues or help for my tier 2 and tier 3 students. They are great for solo work or partner work, too. My students love our SCOOT center and I love that I'm never without either the weekly skill or review skill for them to practice.

Very satisfied
These are fun for students to get out of their seat and do when they are done with their math work. As long as you have the time to put them around the room and change them out, it is a great resource for extra math practice!

LOVE LOVE LOVE! I absolutely love this resource. I bought the bundle and I change it out every week and the students love it every single week. Just getting to get a clipboard and walk around makes this resource very engaging no matter which skill cards we are utilizing. Highly recommend!

Questions & Answers
Question | August 21, 2022 from Andrea C.

I just purchase these and I noticed or can't find the one game for April in this bundle. Are you missing the 2 digit Addition with regrouping_"cutie carrots" ? Or did you change the images to not be carrots and something else?
Answer | August 22, 2022 from Happy Hearts in 1st (TPT Seller)

Hi! Yes I’m doing a big update of this resource and the 2-digit regrouping activity now has Spring Rain friends clip art! I must have forgotten to change that in the description. Thanks so much for letting me know! :)

Question | October 18, 2022 from Jennifer Lingle (TPT Seller)

Hi! I just purchased this bundle the other day and I'm looking for each of the months. Am I missing how to download the months? Or do I need to purchase them separately?
Answer | October 18, 2022 from Happy Hearts in 1st (TPT Seller)

Hi there!
All of the sets for each month are included in the year-long bundle! Each month has 4 Solve the Room sets included. You can look at the preview file to see which skills go with each month. I hope that makes sense! If you still have questions about it, feel free to email me at happyheartsin1st.com :)
Thanks!

Question | May 30, 2022 from Yeonjeong Y.

The 2-digit addition without regrouping doesn't have a recording sheet with images on the top. Will you be adding this to the resource?
Answer | May 31, 2022 from Happy Hearts in 1st (TPT Seller)

Hi! I’m in the process of updating all of the Solve the Room sets and the new version does not have the pictures on the answer key. If you’d like the old version, feel free to email me at kelsey@happyheartsin1st.com and I’m happy to send it to you!
Thanks!

Question | September 8, 2020 from Teaching With Magic (TPT Seller)

Are you considering updating this to be digital friendly? It would be awesome to have this in slides so that we could do in during Google Meets.
Answer | September 8, 2020 from Happy Hearts in 1st (TPT Seller)

I would love to do this! I’m not sure when I will be able to as I’m currently focused on my own classroom. However, I definitely plan to in the future!
Question | November 29, 2017 from Janelle H.

Have you thought about adding some sort of self check feature?
Answer | December 16, 2017 from Happy Hearts in 1st (TPT Seller)

Hi there! Every solve the room set includes an answer key! In my classroom I have a grading station. After students finish the center, they go there to check their answers. I put some fun colored pens with the answer key so that students can circle any that they miss. They know that if they miss any, they should go back to the card and solve again! Hope that's helpful!
