Description
This product consists of five manipulative-based lesson plans available from Benchmark Math Resources that involve direct instruction, guided practice, and independent practice. Each lesson plan includes professional graphics, a technology integration component, a worksheet, and a link to one of the Common Core Standards for Math. These lessons will allow you to get your students actively involved in a way that will strengthen their skills and mathematical thinking abilities. I encourage you to download and read a free digital product that I have made available at TPT, entitled, "The Case For Using Manipulatives in the Elementary Math Classroom," in order to find out more about the importance of using manipulatives.

CCSS4.NF.A.2
Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators, e.g., by creating common denominators or numerators, or by comparing to a benchmark fraction such as 1/2. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
CCSS4.NF.B.3a
Understand addition and subtraction of fractions as joining and separating parts referring to the same whole.
