Description
This webquest activity (6 pages) for the grade 6 geometry unit (Ontario Curriculum) asks students to explore a math website and learn about various geometric concepts.
The first 3 pages asks them to record the definitions, descriptions and properties of terms, and provide a visual example/drawing of each. There are 35 terms to be found on the site, such as isosceles trapezoid, congruent polygons, reflex angle, perpendicular lines, line segment, etc.
The 4th page has students find 12 specified symbols used in geometry (e.g. the symbol for triangle, perpendicular, parallel, etc.
The last 2 pages contain 13 questions that students need to answer after exploring the website (e.x. What is the relationship between the number of sides in a regular polygon and the number of lines of symmetry that it has?).
This activity can be done independently or with a partner/small group and is really engaging for students!
