Fraction and Decimal Hundreds Grid Math Art Activity
This resource can be used in a number of different ways. Originally, this activity was created to teach understanding of decimals and fractions to the hundredths place. Students create abstract art from a 100s grid and show their colors mathematically using fractions and decimals. From there, students can solve equations using variables, or create their own equations.
Included in this resource:
1 large blank 100s block
2 small blank 100s blocks
2 identifying fractions/decimals pages (1 with colors/1 blank)
1 adding fractions/decimals work page
1 adding fractions/decimals equations work page
1 create your own equations work page
24 colored 100s block cards
Fraction and Decimal Build-Your-Own Interactive Board Center
This activity uses colored 100s grid cards to help students understand the relationship between fractions and decimals. Perfect for use as a center using ANY interactive board. File includes all 24 grid images with documentation page- simply insert each image on a separate page in your interactive board software, and you are ready! Project one page per center, and students will complete the equations for both fractions and decimals. Equations to solve are written using variables, which stand for the amount of units of each color.
