Math Anchor Text Series-Mouse Shapes

***This unit is loaded with fun activities to teach and explore shapes. It also grounds the learning with a paired Math Anchor Text. Additionally, early numeracy skills are included for small group math work.

Please note that this unit will be enhanced with pairing text readings with hands-on math manipulatives. This unit is grounded in research and Common Core standards, and is rich in complex text.

Included in this unit is a 5 day Math Anchor Text plan that requires students to think thoroughly about details in a text. The unit is laid out in the following format:

Day 1: Math Anchor Text Intro/Cold Read

Day 2: Vocabulary

Day 3: Text Dependent/Text Inspired Questions

Day 4: Collaborative Questioning

Day 5: Cumulative Wrap-up

Items can be completed whole group, using the mentor text, or extended and used in a small group setting or math centers. All small group activities help to compliment the math anchor text. I hope you enjoy and check out more Math Anchor Text Units to come.
