What educators are saying

The castle mural came out so beautiful. It is displayed in our primary grade hallway. We also had so much fun with the die game. My 2nd graders drew some beautiful suns:)
LOVED this lesson and so did my students across multiple grade levels! The lesson plan is very thorough and still leaves room for adaptations as necessary.

    Description

Learn how to create a beautiful fantasy castle drawing, in the style of Mary Blair, with many design ideas, for castle patterns, doors, windows, domes, clock faces, and the sun. This art activity is designed for a wide variety of skill levels, with many choices for getting started and pages that kids (and adults) can color for added fun. The 8.5 x 11-sized castle drawing pages are sure to help you create masterpieces in the style of Mary Blair.

This art lesson is the perfect companion after reading the book, "Pocket Full of Colors: The Magical World of Mary Blair, Disney Artist Extraordinaire." Get ready to get creative and bring the magic of Mary Blair into your home or classroom!

When they finish their individual castle design, they can color or design a 6" piece to add to a collaborative mural-sized castle.

The collaborative castle makes a stunning hallway design and can even be used as a musical backdrop.

An ideal beginning-of-the-year or end-of-the-year project because you can add a few or as many pieces to the castle as your time and number of students allow.

    What happy teachers are saying:

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My first graders loved this project. I read them a book about Mary Blair and we also watched a short YouTube biography about her. The students colored several pieces each and I assembled them into a colorful castle on the class bulletin board. We received so much wonderful feedback from other teachers, students and parents. I will definitely use this resource again.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was wonderful as the students were so engaged while playing the game. We plan to use the large version for a school mural next year. I also love this and played along with my students. Thank you!

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So fun! We read about Mary Blair and then did a collaborative art project with it for the hall bulletin board. Fun way to start the school year!
