Description
Martin Luther King Day needs a wonderful celebration! There is no better way to really get to know Martin Luther King, Jr. than a No Wheels Field Trip when remote learning or in person learning field trips aren't possible! Open your students' eyes and thoughts to the life of Dr. King! Get to know who he was and what he stood for. Feel inspired after learning about his life!
This field trip includes sooo much inspiration and thought provoking moments to teach children more about the character of Martin Luther King, Jr. than any worksheet activity EVER did! I may never go back to worksheets and paper products!
Enjoy hearing the story of two children's choirs from different backgrounds who joined together to celebrate Martin Luther King Day!
Use the timeline slide to find resources selected for a sequential progression through his life. (Disclaimer: You will notice on the slides linked in the timeline that inserted videos appear to be the same. They are not. One resource has been segmented to match the events on the timeline so that you and your students can watch and discuss time periods on the timeline rather than watching one longer resource at one time. I hope this makes this resource better for class discussion!)
Learn about the Children's March, and how children inspired more involvement across the nation to join Martin in pushing the Civil Rights Movement! Hear from first hand accounts.
Also included are a few response slides. I do not like to put too many into a virtual field trip due to the fact that students or the teacher will have to exit present mode and go to edit before finishing. Many requests for more responses an exit tickets have inspired me to include a few! My favorite response slide is the Digital Collage that students will create around the MLK Memorial! Directions to students are included.
Students will believe you are the most AMAZING teacher... which YOU are! Learn real facts and information on your NO WHEELS FIELD TRIP to meet Martin Luther King!
Included in the experience:
23 different linked websites and slides (Links are considered as images that link to somewhere else like a website or slide. Not all links are websites. Some links are video slides and some are response slides.)

9 inserted videos for easy viewing
Field trip review
Enjoy! I hope to really create a greater impact with your students about the reasons why we honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His characters traits are traits we should all strive for!
