Description
My students were able to grasp the basics of market structure using this introductory, collaborative activity which covers content including:
-characteristics of perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly
-examples of market structures
-comparison of different markets using their characteristics
Students work in small groups to complete one part of a shared exploration of the four market structures. Each group adopts the role of a specific producer in one type of market. After completing handouts, the groups collaborate to discuss the three markets, rank them according to their characteristics, and debate which market is best for society.
