What educators are saying

This was such a fun resource to use during Women's History Month. My students had a blast learning about different influential women in history and got really into voting for the brackets!
My students loved this! They knew some of the women, but not all. They were engaged in this the entire month. They were happy to show anyone who walked in our class. Other staff members came and looked at our board too!

Description

If you are looking to teach your students about and celebrate historical female figures in an engaging and exciting way, you and your students will absolutely LOVE this activity! This activity incorporates the March Madness hype with Women's History Month.

In this resource, there are various sets of historical female figure cards for students to learn about women in history and to use for a bracket board display. There is also a match-up worksheet for students to match the accomplishments with the correct historical female figure, along with an answer key. After the students have learned about the historical female figures included in this set (24 women), there are TWO voting options - paper and digital - to determine the 16 women who will be placed on the bracket board and enter the tournament. Your students will enjoy filling out their own brackets with the blank one provided in this resource, giving them the opportunity to predict how the tournament will play out. If making a bulletin board bracket display, there is a bulletin board banner heading included, as well. An optional writing assignment is for your students to write an opinion piece about the most influential woman in history after they have chosen their top pick to win the tournament; writing paper is included. Alternatively, this opinion piece may be completed about the winner of the tournament, at the end of it. Please view the preview for a closer look at this extensive resource!

I hope the excitement of this resource brings both fun and new learning to your students!
