Description

Let the MATHness begin!!! This resource enables students to participate in a variety of fun, engaging activities, sure to bring the excitement of March Madness to your classroom!

This version of this resource also entitles you to lifetime updates. Each year I will post an updated version when the new March Madness bracket is released, meaning you get a brand new resource every year!

This resource consists of three different segments.

First, there are three mini-games in which students compete against each other to see who can predict the best teams in the bracket. Here is a quick overview of each game:

#1) "Budget Buster Mini Game"--In this game, students choose three to eight teams to represent them throughout the tournament. Each team is assigned a dollar value, and students must work with a $50 budget. When one of their teams wins, they accumulate points based on their value. It is a great alternative to filling out the entire 64-team bracket!

#2) "Pick Six Mini Game"--In this game, students choose six teams to represent them throughout the tournament. When one of their teams wins, they accumulate points based on seed value. It is another great alternative to filling out the entire 64-team bracket!

#3) "Sweet 16 Trifecta Mini Game"--This game is similar to Pick Six. Students choose three teams once the field is reduced to 16 teams after the first weekend of the tournament. Very fun game to keep students (and adults) engaged in the tournament!

Next, students learn about the all-time great performers and performances from the 75+ year history of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. In "March MATHness," students examine ten different statistical categories from the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament to practice and reinforce a variety of math skills. Students answer five questions for each category, as well as create a timeline of the greatest moments in March Madness history.

Finally, in "Move Around the Room-March MATHness," students use the statistic clue cards to help them answer a variety of questions. There are three different versions, for a total of 30 questions. This component ties reading, writing, and math skills together!

Each year I will update this product when the new March Madness bracket is released, meaning you get a brand new resource every year!

I am positive this resource will be a SLAM DUNK with your students!!!!
