My Map Skills & 5 Themes of Geography Activity Bundle | Unit Activities includes four of my activities resources for your unit on map skills and the five themes of geography at a discounted rate.

Included resources are:

1. The Five Themes of Geography Posters with Mr. Help

Sometimes all it takes is something comical, silly, or colorful for students to remember a concept. These posters for the five themes of geography reinforce concepts to students on posters with colorful, fun graphics that will grab their attention.

The set uses the mnemonic device MR. HELP and includes a heading poster and poster for each theme with a very brief definition. These posters are not meant to be your sole teaching tool for the five themes but rather a colorful reminder of each theme in brief to assist student memory.

Here are the poster definitions that are included:

1. Heading Poster-

• The Five Themes of Geography with MR. HELP

2. Movement-

• How do people, goods, and ideas move from place to place?

3. Region-

• A region is an area that shares a common feature

(political, climate, culture, etc.)

4. Human-Environment Interaction-

• Human-environment interaction is the relationship between the people and the environment.

5. Location- Where is it?

• Absolute Location- its exact position on Earth (using latitude/longitude or a specific address)

• Relative Location- its location in relation to another place

6. Place- What are its features?

• Natural Features- its physical features such as landforms and bodies of water, climate, or natural resources

• Human Features- its people, language, culture, etc.

The set also includes a student handout sheet with all five themes (posters in miniature) as well as a student note taking sheet to be used however you might like.

2. Map Skills and the Five Themes of Geography (Activity and Quiz)

Here's a resource to help you complete your map skills and five themes of geography unit. Your students will complete a review activity with key terms, create flash cards for study purposes, and complete a quiz.

Included pages are:

• Suggested Timeline of Activities

• Key Terms Review Sheet (fill in the blank activity with 24 terms, word bank, and answer key)- can be done as a whole group, individually, or with a partner

• Flash Card Direction Sheet

• Flash Card Pages (to create 24 flash cards)

• Quiz on Key Terms (3 pages) with answer key

This resource allows for several options when studying map skills and the five themes of geography.

Use it as a task card activity.

Twenty-eight cards are included as well as a recording sheet and answer key. It works well in centers and would work equally well as an individual or partner activity. It also includes a word list which could be used as an adaptation for students.

Use it as a scoot game.

The cards and recording sheet work well in a scoot fashion if you wish to have your students actively moving around the room.

Use it as a bingo game.

A blank bingo card and word list are provided. Students fill in their bingo cards with the word of their choice. The task cards can then be used as caller cards for a fun round of Geography Bingo!

4. Map Skills and the Five Themes of Geography Puzzles

Add a new twist to your unit on map skills and the five themes of geography with these puzzles that test students' knowledge as well as providing some puzzle fun!

These word search puzzles include fill in the blank statements for students to complete before doing the puzzles. As the student fills the answer in each blank, he/she then finds the word in the puzzle.

Two puzzles are included. One focuses on map skills while the other focuses on the five themes of geography.

Word lists are provided as well to use as an adaptation if needed. Answer keys are also included.
