Map Administrative Structure Federal State Brandenburg

The administrative structure of the federal state of Brandenburg is composed of three layers: the federal government, the state government, and the local government. The executive branch of the federal government is headed by the Federal President and is composed of the Federal Ministries and Federal Agencies. The state government is headed by the Minister-President and is composed of the State Ministries and State Agencies. The local government is composed of the district governments and local city and town governments. All of these layers of government are responsible for different aspects of governance and public services.

The administrative structure of Brandenburg is a three-level hierarchy of federal, state and local government. The federal government, based in Berlin, is responsible for the overall direction of the country and the enforcement of laws. The state government, based in Potsdam, is responsible for the implementation of state laws, as well as the provision of services and infrastructure. The local government, based in the cities and municipalities of Brandenburg, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the areas within their jurisdiction.
