Description

Great speeches can unite people and make waves in our world culture. Malala Yousafzai, the young Pakistani activist for female education, was a name everyone around the world rallied around. In honor of International Women’s Day, we’re sharing her speech at the United Nations Youth Assembly on July 12, 2013 in this powerful activity that will spark great critical thinking discussions.


For Teachers:
Options for using this material:
a. Individual Student Activity: Have students scan the QR code, watch the speech, answer the questions on the handout.
b. Whole Class Instruction: Teach this lesson as a class, watch the speech together, have a class discussion on the questions.
c. Whole Class Instruction and Individual Student Activity: Teach this
lesson as a class, watch speech together, have students complete the
questions on the handout.

*BONUS: The QR Code card can be left out for extended student access after the lesson or as an independent work for students to complete on their schedule. In addition, students may be given the card as a take home assignment.*
