Students write a short story and practice their cartography skills by making a treasure map to supplement their story. This project-based resource includes four graphic organizers to help students brainstorm ideas for their stories and maps. An example map is also included. Be sure to include it with your other narrative writing prompts. This resource is also perfect for a St. Patrick's Day writing assignment!

Theme Park Map (Functional Writing Activity) - This imaginative resource is great for encouraging creativity while also teaching students how to write functional text! Students create an imaginary theme park and brainstorm rides, restaurants, and other attractions for it. They then make a map for their park. The map includes a key with symbols to identify various locations like restaurants and rides. It also includes a compass rose and a path for visitors to follow.
