- Google Slides™
Description
Specific objectives for this unit include:
To become knowledgeable of the U.S. currency and economics.
- To analyze the purposes of taxation.
- To research different occupations.
- To set savings goals and become familiar with banking transactions.
Students will participate in a simulation where they will take on the roles of married adults with families. By the luck of the draw, you are assigned an occupation and the number of children in your family. True to life, you will be faced with living expenses, unexpected medical bills, and higher-than-desired grocery bills. The students learn the basic concepts of money management as they take charge of their lives and set out to provide for the needs of their families as determined by their income.
This unit will incorporate the six levels of thinking (knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, evaluation) and the six areas of giftedness (written expression, oral expression, logic, social sciences, the arts, and leadership). The unit also provides an opportunity for you to have fun while applying math skills to real-life experiences.
