Description

Mix math and music in your Kindergarten or primary classroom. You can use the handout as a whole sheet or cut it into strips of bells, water glasses, or xylophone bars. Have your students colour a pattern on the bells, glasses, or xylophone. Then use instruments to turn their colour pattern into a musical pattern and play it for the class. My Kindergarten class loved this hands on musical centre. You can use this activity as a centre or whole class activity any time of year, but it is also great for around Christmas (although there is no reference to Christmas on the handout). As students finished their pattern, they brought their strip up to the pocket chart and played it for the class. You could also laminate the strips for use over and over again.
