What educators are saying

I use this as a whole group movement activity and my students LOVE it. I will display all the cards, then I'll say a number less than ten and the class has to do the movement for whatever number they need to add to make ten. Big hit in the beginning of the year as we're easing into 2nd grade math.

Description

This versatile resource includes materials for a brain break, a whole class game, and a center game all focused on helping your kindergarten and first grade students memorize the pairs of numbers that add up to a sum of ten.

In this product, every number from 1 to 9 is associated with a certain exercise, movement, or stretch. In the brain break portion of the product, you can help your students get extra energy out when you are transitioning or when they just need a break. You can display two large 8.5" by 11" cards with numbers that add up to 10 and invite the students to complete the movements on the cards. For example, you might hold up a card that directs students to do 9 squats and a card that directs students to do 1 super stretch. Each exercise is shown on the card in words and with an illustration. By doing these brain breaks occasionally throughout the day, students will begin to remember the sequence of exercises, which may help them remember the pairs of numbers that make 10.

The resource also includes smaller versions of the cards and directions to use them for a center game and/or a whole class game.

Perfect for kinesthetic learners and active students! Get those kids jumping and grooving in math class!

(This resource would also be awesome for P. E. class. Physical education teachers could tie the math curriculum into a phys. ed. station with these cards! Or, this product could help you add an educational and fun activity to indoor recess!)
