Main Idea Worksheets & Practice. 5th-6th Grade Reading Comprehension Strategies

Designed to help 5th and 6th graders improve their understanding of the main idea as a reading comprehension strategy, this resource focuses on identifying the main idea from an interesting selection of informational texts (nonfiction) and few fiction texts in the form of short paragraphs.

To keep students engaged, each worksheet has 10 paragraphs and 10 multiple choice questions (1 question per paragraph). There are 8 worksheets and 80 Multiple choice questions in total. Answer keys are included, and each worksheet has its own separate answer keys.

The questions in this resource start easy, then gradually more difficult to help students improve their understanding of this reading strategy skill through different passages.
