Students will love observing the swirling colors in magic milk. By the end of the activity, students will be able to answer the question: Does the fat in milk affect the amount of swirling colors? By observing color mixing, they will discover the causes and effects of soap, fat, and water. Students will enjoy comparing the different kinds of milk and the further exploration chemistry activity.
Teachers will love its’ ease of use and watching the students get excited about science. Teachers find the age-appropriate journal helpful in teaching higher-order thinking skills and learning to observe and record data. The background information helps the teacher be prepared for any questions the students may have. The further exploration adds a nice, simple STEM/chemistry challenge. Simple Supplies Needed. whole milk, fat-free milk, dish soap, dessert plates, eye droppers, food coloring, stopwatches, and other kinds of milk for further exploration.
