MYP Art Scientific and Technical Innovation "Art & Ocean" (Film, Drawing, Photo)

Description of product

• Students will inquire into the ocean, and scientific research will be done to understand how science and art can contribute to visualizing different narratives about the Ocean. The guiding statement of inquiry is “Science and art work together to communicate research through narratives that define how we look at the Ocean.”
• It includes a single pdf file with:

1. Planner * with formative assessments, summative, ATL, etc.
2. Poster of S.O.I.
3. Rubric
4. Field Trip activity
   

Learning Outcome:

• Students will learn the techniques of scientific illustration, performative drawing, performance, installation, and film.
• They will analyze different artists who work closer to the ocean as a theme and produce an artwork that responds to a student-lead question regarding the ocean.

Age group: Middle school grades 9 and 10 (MYP 4 and 5)

Duration: 12-14  lessons, 45 minutes each

You will need: Depending on the students’ artwork choice, you will need different supplies.

Tools: phone with a camera, screen to project film, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, rulers, and black ink pens.

Technique: Film, drawing, performance, etc.
