What educators are saying

This was a very neat way to introduce color theory in lighting design to my students- definitely helps if you have color-changing LEDs that you can use during the activity!

Description

Give your students a fun and tasty activity while learning the physics of color theory! Stage Lighting Design affects pigments of color in costume and scenery, and occasionally makeup and props. Let them learn about the affects of lighting color and pigment color using M&Ms (or skittles for some).

In addition, I added a second activity to analyze, discuss, and reflect as a lighting designer for Broadway shows choosing colors to use onstage.

This assignment has 2 worksheets for the student activities, and 3 pages for teacher step by step directions. You can achieve this activity with stage lights (LED lights, or lights with Red, Green, and Blue gels), student phones, or flashlights. All ways are prepared in the directions.
