Introduce or revise the dystopian genre with this stand alone or mentor text unit.
Includes lessons that explore a range of the following concepts:
- Suppression of individuality and oppressive government control
- Excessive use of social media
- Automation of the workforce
- Symbolism
- Language use
- Tone
Lessons include:

- Hyper-Reality short film + analysis of technology overuse and creative advertising mini task
- The Luckiest short film + analysis of tone and symbolism
- The Last Job on Earth short film + analysis of workforce automation and job invention writing task
This unit is designed for students in years 6-10 (depending on the depth explored in class) and takes approximately 6-8 hours to complete in full. Alternatively, you can pick and choose which lessons to use with your class.
