Subject/Level: Italian, Level I
Unit: Food and Mealtaking
Prior Learning: Students are familiar with vocabulary for foods and meals. Students have been introduced to procedures for currency conversions.
Assessment Objectives: Students will demonstrate the ability to:
1. plan, prepare and execute an appealing menu
2. plan and structure a project by setting goals and maintaining organization
3. calculate foreign currencies
4. apply vocabulary for a variety of authentic foods
Standards: Communication, Connections, Comparisons, Cultures
L2: Demonstrate command of conventions of capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
W4: Present information clearly demonstrating consideration of perspective, purpose, and audience.
W5: Develop and strengthen writing through planning, revising, editing, rewriting or trying a new approach.
W10: Write frequently on a variety of topics for a variety of purposes.
Materials Used: project description and instructions, rough draft graphic organizer, rubrics, peer review, student computers, and/or poster board
Assessment Overview:
- Students plan and create a menu which contains a variety of vocabulary for foods and beverages in Italian.
- Students complete a project which includes the following essential information:
· vocabulary for foods and beverages
· prices in a foreign currency from a Italian-speaking country of their choosing
· offerings organized into categories
· authentic dishes represented
3. Students provide a visually appealing finished product in paper or slideshow format.
