* Nine science nonfiction passages including a digging deeper activity for each day of the week AND a comprehension quiz! *
Rereading is definitely key in comprehension as well as fluency. However, getting kids to reread is definitely a challenge. I suggest making it a habit. Here is one way to make rereading a habit.
This product includes science nonfiction text passages. Give the passages to the students each morning. Have them complete the corresponding questions for that day of the week. Collect it from them so they don't work ahead. Your goal is to have them reread it. Pass it back to them each day and have them complete the corresponding morning work questions. Return it to them on Friday to have one last reread, and then give them the comprehension quiz!
If you really want to drive home the point of rereading, give them the quiz after reading the selection only one time and then compare their results to their quiz results after rereading the passage all week.
You will find many literary topics embedded within the text as well as the questions. Learning to read nonfiction text is a skill within itself.

- Energy Bulletin Board (15 pages)
This is everything you need (with the exception of border and paper) to create a quick and easy bulletin board! Just print, cut, and staple it up.
I created this because my class is learning about energy and all of it's forms. This board only covers 4 types. I polled my class to discover which forms they want to investigate deeper. They chose : electricity, solar energy, electromagnetic energy, and nuclear energy.
- Energy Reading Closely (19 pages)
There are two major parts to this activity.
1. Read an online resource (the link is provided) and complete a student log.
2. Use the information learned to create a PREZI presentation!
